James Wong is often lauded as having the best feel and rhythm that people have heard and felt from an Australian born Chinese Maori (Chaori). Often asked about how he obtained such groove, the simple reply is “some people earn it, some people work on it. I was born with it.” Not to be mistaken for arrogance, he understands how to keep learning from better players. Constantly applying the philosophy of ‘you can learn from everyone’, he holds no distaste for any genres or types of players (although still doesn’t get this whole ‘folk’ thing). James can often be seen strumming polyrhythms in his sleep. Often described as killer looks mixed with killer feel, he’s an all round weapon when it comes to playing with Busyhands.
